Safewords. It's a word you and your-- I dunno, partner? Agree on for when things get too heated. Usually it's for sex, but it'd probably apply here, too.

So, like, we agree on "penguin" being the word either of us says when shit gets too real, basically, and everything comes to a stop.

Yeah, they're friends. He would definitely admit as much. But-- it's. It's kind of nice hearing it without any hint of guile or some sort of unspoken caveat -- at least, not any he can detect.
