Wish I had been there to hear it. [ And here he ducks down a little, murmuring. ]

You know how your voice does such things to me.

[ He quirks an eyebrow ] I did not know. Thanks for the tip.

[ There's a pause, and the expression on his face takes a definite turn for the wicked ] So does that mean I should wait until later to tell you how much I want to tear you out of that suit?

[ when he's sure no one is looking, Peter wrinkles his nose. ]

If you'd let me have my way, we could've already been doing that.

[animated]

You are zero fun right now, you know that?

[nostalgiabomb]

I just felt it was worth pointing out.

Also worth pointing out? I've scoped out at least six empty hallways I wanna drag you into so we can find other ways to use these ties. But I'm being patient.

[animated]

Wow, I really have to admire your patience. Especially because there's nothing really stopping you from dragging me off and pinning me against the wall, and running your tongue all over my--

[ and then they drift a little too close to another couple, so for the sake of propriety, Charlie shuts up ]

[ SCREAMS INTERNALLY

he bites down on his lower lip as they pass by the couple, careful not to hurry them through the steps. Then, after a slow breath, ]

You are such a prick sometimes.

[animated]

I'm sorry, was I distracting you?

[ he says, as he presses a little closer to Peter ]

[ He inhales a little sharply, tamping down the urge to glance around to see if anyone's looking.

(Because he wasn't kidding about those hallways. Six. And he's about ten seconds away from dragging this stupid wizard down into one of them.) ]

We are working, Maxwell.

[animated]

Oh, speaking of--

[ He motions with a slight nod of his head towards one hallway in particular ] --you wanna drag me down there and pin me against the wall in about, oh, two more minutes?

[nostalgiabomb]

Yes.

[ It's hissed out between his teeth, but then he sighs. ]

But this isn't for fun, is it. Jesus, you totally suck, sometimes.

[animated]

[ He laughs a little ] I'll make it worth your while, promise.

[nostalgiabomb]

Fine. Two minutes, then.

[ Under his breath, he adds, Friggin' tease.

As it is, he starts leading them in that direction. ]

-- I didn't know you could dance this well.

[animated]

Why would you? You never asked.

It's going to sound horribly cliche, but wizards like to throw galas and balls. I've been to more of these kinds of parties than I'd care to count.

[nostalgiabomb]

Sooo. You had a coven?

Is that when you guys got out your cauldrons and make spooky noises over them?

[animated]

I wouldn't call it a "coven" so much as a dick-measuring contest.

And unfortunately, there were no cauldrons involved.

[ He sighs, disappointed. ] What's even the point, then?

[animated]

You should really just stop comparing us to the witches from Macbeth. It'll save you a lot of disappointment.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ He blinks. ]

What's Macbeth?

[animated]

[ He gives him the weirdest look for a second before he realizes- Peter was probably just a kid when he left Earth. The works of one William Shakespeare were probably not in the curriculum. ]

Shakespeare play. If you've ever heard the quote, "double, double, toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble", that's where it comes from.

[ That look makes him feel a little embarrassed, even a little stupid, and when Charlie mentions Shakespeare, it sort of clicks into place. He forgets, sometimes, that Charlie is a giant nerd who owned a book store and is five million times smarter than him. ]

Sounds familiar.

[ he takes a look around, slow and casual, before nodding toward the hallway. ]

Have I been patient enough yet?

[animated]

[ he certainly doesn't want to make Peter feel stupid, and usually he's pretty good about reminding himself that there are certain things about Earth that Peter just isn't going to know. Every once in a while, things just sort of slip out. ]

I think you have.

[nostalgiabomb]

[ One more glance around, and he's pulling Charlie toward the hallway he pointed out earlier. The lights are dimmer here -- an unofficial signal to the guests that the area isn't meant to be explored -- which gives Peter the opportunity to push Charlie up against the wall unnoticed.

Aaaand he's totally making out with him. Well, at least he waited. ]

[ Honestly, he's a little impressed that Peter made it this far, what with all his teasing. It's hard to remember they're here on business with the way Peter is kissing him, hard not to get lost in the heady sensation of pent-up desire as he bites at Peter's lower lip and tangles his fingers in his hair.

And it's really hard to notice when someone nearby clears their throat- so much so that they have to do it again, giving a warning "Gentleman."

It's the woman from before, the assistant. She moves in like she means to separate them, but once she gets close, she offers up a small device- Charlie likens it to a flash drive- discreetly between them. Her eyes say take it but her mouth goes, "I'm going to have to ask you to go back to the main hall. This area is off-limits to guests." ]

[ It takes a whole lot of willpower for Peter to bite back his swear, because things were just starting to get good. As it is, he coughs a little awkwardly, smooths his hair back and his clothing down, and nods at the assistant.

Blink and miss it: as he reaches a hand out to direct Charlie away, he takes the device from her. By the time his hand rests on Charlie's back, he's already tucked the device safely away into his sleeve. ]

My apologies. We'll be on our way, ma'am.
