[ At her question, he pauses. Then, carefully neutral, he says, ] Yeah, I was.

How 'bout you? Where'd you come from before you got nabbed?

[ She can put two and two together. If rabbits are an Earth thing, and he hasn't seen them in "forever", coupled with the "was", it's safe to say he hasn't been home in a while.

But she's not one to pry. She left her own home planet as well. ]

Before I got nabbed? Pandora.

[ Peter slowly nods his head, as though understanding is dawning-- but then shakes it from side to side once. ]

...I probably should've mentioned that there's some kinda alternate universe deal going on here, too. My Earth isn't the same as your Earth, which isn't the same as Spock's Earth. That kinda thing.

[ She quirks a brow, giving him a bit of a skeptical look ]

When someone first mentioned "different wolds" to me, I assumed they meant planets, not whole realities.

Eh, well, it's a tough pill to swallow, at first, but then I met a guy who said that magical powers on his Earth are totally a thing, when last I checked they totally weren't. It's around then that I started thinking maybe the alternate worlds theory held some water.

I guess I'll withhold judgement for the moment, but I'll keep that in mind.

This place is probably going to keep surprising me for a while, I'm sure.

[ At first, Peter only responds with a noncommittal hum as he kicks the hell out of a lizard thing skittering its way towards them. It hits the opposite wall with a satisfying thunk. ]

Oh, hey, anyone tell you about the writing thing?

That it's not allowed? Yeah, someone mentioned it. Clark, I think his name was.

[ He nods. ] Yeah, although apparently it's all good in Haven North, where we're headed. So, you know, you get an urge to write a novel? Better get ready for a two hour trip.

I heard there was a library there. [ was that a twinkle in her eye at the word "library"? it might have been ] I'd like to check it out.

For the books? Why else would anyone want to go to a library?
